October 18, 2016 Guild Meeting

October 23, 2016

The evening proved to be idea inspiring with Robin Bogaert’s trunk show–“My Quilting Journey”.    What a great presentation!  Beautiful quilts from beginning to end.  Robin showed us quilts that were class samples from her days as owner of Borders Quilting & Sewing, in Windsor.  Quilts she made just for fun, quilts she made during workshops she had attended and even quilts from a recent “Quilt Magazine” publication.  You should check out her website at which was just named as one of the top 100 quilting blogs.

We all wished Rosemary Uiberlacher a very happy birthday as she turns 70 this month.

Deb Ferguson shared her President’s Challenge for 2017 which is a wall hanging or
quilt made out of reds, whites, creams or beige with the accent colour being black. It must include flying geese and maple leaves.

Don’t forget about next months Christmas Party, some of the info is as follows:
When: November 15, 2016
Where: Kingsville Golf & Country Club, 640 County Rd 20
Time: Doors open at 5pm, Dinner at 6pm
Cost: $31

See Kathy Wiper and or Shirley Lowes to reserve your table and purchase tickets.
This year’s recipients of our annual Christmas good works will be the clients of the
Meals on Wheels program in the Kingsville/Leamington area. We are asking for
placemats (12” x 18”) to be given to people with their meals. The placemats can be
any design, but we ask that they not be seasonal, so that they can be used daily
throughout the year. It is a great way to use up your scraps and stash. Hopefully, we
can donate two to each person, so that when one is dirty, they can still have one that
is usable. Placemats will be collected the evening of the dinner. As is customary with
the guild, we will be collecting canned goods and toiletries for the St. Vincent de Paul
Society. Please be generous, as there is a great need in our area.
Raffle – Do you want to win a beautiful quilt or a basket full of wonderful gifts?
Tickets will be available the night of the dinner.
Tickets are $1 each or 10 for $5.
As usual, bring your lovely quilts for Show and Tell at the dinner.  We hope to see you all there for a fun and enjoyable evening!

The next general quilt guild meeting will be January 17, 2017 with Sue White as vendor and Jackie Cooper’s trunk show presentation.
